Here is a method (there are many) for quickly getting forum profile links you may create indexed by the search engines:
First, keep track of the url of your link. I keep a running tally in a simple text file.
Second, after creating a number of links (10-20), I copy all the links at once and using http://html2rss.com, create a free RSS feed out of the links. html2rss is great for easily creating an rss feed from web pages or links to web pages. Even better, instead of having to input each url one at a time, they can all be pasted at once – a great time saver over other services.
Since html2rss is free, the owner, Peter Drew, includes a link to one of his websites within your created feed.
One issue I have with html2rss is that the initial rss feed it creates has 2 links: first to a separate page that contains all of your links (plus one of Drew’s links), and second, directly to one of Drew’s websites.
I’m not too excited about only getting an indirect link to a page containing my links, even though this is free, so what I due is to the url of the rss feed created by html2rss and,
Third (this is purely optional and not required), head over to Yahoo Pipes (http://pipes.yahoo.com). This is also free. With Yahoo pipes I’m going to take the html2rss feed and create a new rss feed that directly links to my websites – and, sorry Drew, eliminates Drew’s link.
Here are the steps:
Use the Fetch Feed command under Sources and copy in the url to your specific rss page with your links (the indirect page accessible from your html2rss feed page). The url will look something like this: html2rss.com/rss.php?id=3945
Then, use the Filter command under Operators to create a rule that filters out the extra link created by html2rss – a link that probably sticks out like a sore thumb because it is unrelated to your profile links.
Connect this to the output, save your new Pipe, then run the Pipe.
The RSS url for your Yahoo pipe will the the url in your browser bar after running the Pipe. It will look something like this (I made this up so don’t expect it to work): http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=87e6c2650b17d3dba7dc3cef1f
I have had better success using that url instead of the url created by Yahoo under the link Get As RSS: those links look like this: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_id=87e6c26224013dba7dc3cef1f&_render=rss
I’m not sure what the difference is, and you can test this for yourself.
Fourth, and finally, with your new RSS feed url created by Yahoo, submit that to RSS aggregator sites and services to quickly get those profile links indexed. I like to use RSSBot from Incansoft. The new version is incredibly fast.
